Proximate Park

I'm starting work on a new public art piece with Andy Graydon called Proximate Park. It will be part of a one night public art event in Dallas called Aurora.

We will be experimenting with the borders between public and private, and between presence and absence, in a 7-story underground parking lot.

In terms of public space, the parking lot is familiar to most of us but rarely considered beyond the geometrical, puzzle-game of slots enforced by zoning and planning. But in a urban environment, the parking lot is a transition point between our private worlds and our public selves. This work will let us experiment with the space. In cars. For 7 hours.
